I had a lot of fun shooting the latest addition to a new segment on my YouTube channel, called SafariWian’s Birding Adventures, and it got me thinking…

Bird watching, or “birding” as it’s more commonly known, is one of my main passions and favourite things to do when I’m out in the field, and compared to when I started birding over 10 years ago, it’s way more popular with the younger crowd than it used to be.

I think living in today’s fast paced, technologically advanced and cybernetic world, more and more people are looking for an excuse to get out of the house and into the great outdoors. They long to be a part of something bigger than themselves and wait to find happiness in something other than the judging clicks, likes and comments of followers on their instagram and facebook accounts.

Birding to me, are one of these escapes that I use on a frequent basis. Working for a company like Birding Ecoturs, I tend to get a lot of opportunity to travel all over the World, enjoying our beautiful and colourful feathered friends. But you don’t need to be a birding guide to get out and go birding, oh no. With the increasing popularity with which birding is taking the world by storm, there is a bird club/group/or organisation near you; in your school, university, town or state/province. Using social media, and all these technological advancements, to your benefit, you can find a group of birders near you.

The reason why birding is such a good escape for me, is because one can literally go birding anytime, anywhere. Whether you want to plan an entire adventure crashing through the amazon rainforest, or if you only have half a Saturday to visit you local botanical gardens, you can always find an opportunity to go birding somewhere.

There are different levels of birders and I will still write a blog about that, or better yet, make video about that too. But for now, enjoy my first birding adventure video. I hope it sparks an interest into the amazing world of birding.

For now go follow my YouTube channel and keep an eye out on my blog for more birding adventures, as I VLOG them all and show you how much fun and adventurous birding really is!
